01Scope of Work
This proposal covers replacement of the sewer lateral at {{client_address}} — {{lateral_feet}} from the house cleanout to the city main tap. Existing: {{existing_pipe}}. Install method: {{method}}.
Pre-construction
• Permits from city public works and AHJ
• Call 811 for utility locates (min 3 business days before dig)
• Video inspection of existing line documented and delivered to {{client_name}}
• Coordinate city sewer-main tap inspection (city inspector present for tap)
**Excavation & removal** (open-trench method)
• Protect landscape and hardscape with plywood and tarps
• Excavate trench along lateral route at code-required depth and slope
• Remove existing pipe; dispose per regulations
OR — Trenchless pipe-bursting:
• Small excavation at house cleanout and at city tap only
• Pull new pipe through existing line using pipe-bursting head
• No long trench required; minimal landscape disruption
New pipe install
• Install 4" Schedule 40 PVC (open-trench) or 4" HDPE (pipe-burst) per IPC 2021 standards
• Proper slope (1/4" per foot minimum on 4" pipe)
• New cleanouts at the house and at property line
• New connection to city main with appropriate saddle or tap fitting
• Bed pipe in washed gravel; backfill in lifts with compaction
Restoration
• Restore landscape to rough grade
• Replace sod, mulch, or small shrubs (major landscaping priced separately)
• Replace concrete or hardscape where cut (saw-cut and repour; aesthetic match may be imperfect)
• Final cleanup and haul-off
Inspection & closeout
• AHJ inspection (open-trench: before backfill; trenchless: at cleanouts)
• Final video inspection documenting new line
• Homeowner walkthrough
