01Scope of Work
This proposal covers a segmental retaining wall install at {{client_address}} — {{wall_length}} linear feet with maximum height of {{wall_height}}.
Excavation
• Layout wall per design
• Excavate behind wall face to allow for base course and geogrid
• Excavate for leveling pad (4"–6" below finished grade)
• Remove any organic material or unsuitable soil
Leveling pad
• Install 6"–8" of compacted 3/4-minus crushed aggregate
• Level and compact with plate compactor
• Use builder's string and level to verify
First course (base)
• Set first course of {{block_type}} on leveling pad
• Check level, both front-to-back (with 1% back-batter) and side-to-side
• Small adjustments with rubber mallet
Stacking
• Stack block in running bond pattern per manufacturer specs
• Backfill with 3/4-minus drainage stone as each course rises
• Install geogrid per manufacturer requirements (typically every 2–4 courses for walls over 36")
• Compact drainage stone behind wall in lifts
Drainage
• Install 4" perforated drain pipe at base (wrapped in filter fabric) for walls over 36"
• Drain pipe outlets to daylight or storm system
• Drainage stone extends at least 12" behind the block face
Cap
• Install cap stones on top course with construction adhesive
• Miter or blend inside and outside corners
Backfill & finish
• Backfill behind wall with approved soil
• Restore grade to original elevation (or per design for raised bed)
• Clean up debris; haul-off excess soil
